My work evolves from my curiosity about my world. Figures, scenes, events and memories are the visual images that evolve into my paintings. I use bold watercolor, layered collage elements and various other media. The portraits illustrate the human multifaceted and complex nature, occasionally combined with social issues. I paint intuitively with little or no planning and my work is an extension of my background, history, culture, and education. My painting is my energy, my visual language screaming, “look at my life, don’t ignore me, I’m here, I’m valid, I’m happy, and I want to share it!” What inspires me most is love, kindness, and the concept that everything happens for a reason— we are all connected. I’m doing exactly what I’m supposed to be doing—what makes me the happiest. Life is too short to do anything else.
